Reserve Bank Of India Core Banking System (CBS) Project:

I got a chance to work with India's Central Bank (RBI). I learnt a lot of things about the data center environment.

Working on MicroFocus monitoring tools specially ITAM (Asset Manager) and Universe Configuration Management Database (UCMDB) also worked on Service Management Automation (SMA-X).

ITAM Software (Asset Manager):

An IT Asset Manager is tasked with managing all IT assets within a business. That includes anything from software and hardware to digital assets and cloud services.

Also known as “IT asset lifecycle management,” or just “asset lifecycle management,” ITAM is a framework for proactively and strategically managing the acquisition, usage, maintenance, and retirement of IT assets.

Not to be confused with IT operations management, which is concerned with delivering IT services and optimizing system performance, ITAM focuses on implementing and automating processes for managing complex asset inventories from purchase through disposition.

Responsibilities:

  • Did installation on the production environment.
  • Works closely with the operations team to provide accurate license entitlement data as part of Software audits.
  • Fosters and maintains a strong working relationship with Business and Technology operations teams tasked with Software Asset Management activities.
  • Implement ITAM Contract module to user's on production environment.
  • Basic knowledge of Connect-It to fetch data of single or multiple user.
  • Ensures change information about IT assets is provided to the ITAM Process.
  • Educates the organization about established ITAM standards, policies and processes and their value.

Service Management Automation- X (SMA-X):

It is a single solution, based on analytics and machine learning, for Enterprise and IT Service Management and IT Asset Management. It enables faster support resolution, fewer service outages and lower ticket volumes out-of-the-box.

Responsibilities:

  • Worked on IT Asset Management and Contract module.
  • Worked on integration between UCMDB and SMA-X to get asset inventory up to date.
  • Basic knowledge of administration level like user creation, provide user access rights/role/ and group etc.
  • Onboarding user's as per requirement.
  • Works with Micro Focus Support to resolve operational/discovery/integration issues.

Universel Configuration Management Database (UCMDB) and Universel Discovery (UD):

Owns overall data flow plan and schedule. Validates discovery/integration results from a functional perspective. Works with Service Modeling Manager to obtain requirements for the UCMDB population. Works with Micro Focus Support to resolve discovery/integration issues.

UCMDB is a software product from Micro Focus that generates and maintains a Configuration Management Database of information technology items. ... UCMDB is included in several HP products and supports ITIL-based configuration management and change management processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Completed UCMDB/UD installation on production environment.
  • Knowledge of various server platform and OS types (Windows, Linux, HPUX, AIX and so on).
  • Ability to present service modeling requirements as well as results to management.
  • Works with Data Flow Manager to ensure there is sufficient data to support the use cases and modeling needs.
  • Designs reports as per requirements like server report, installed software, software wise etc.
  • Responsible for the integrity of data being provided
  • Owns Backups and DR readiness plan and operations.
  • Connectivity and communication between server, gateway, probe, and client.
  • Owns and delegates authority to use the JMX administrative console functions.
